Situated 80kms South-West of Toowoomba along the Gore Highway, Millmerran has a vibrant business community with ongoing business opportunities and proposed future developments which have resulted from the presence of the Millmerran Power Station.
We have a long history and a rich heritage in agriculture. Traditionally we produce grains, cotton and wool with extensive beef cattle production. The dairying industry played a major role in Millmerran's development until the 60's. More recently we have diversified to more exotic produce such as, olives, geraldton wax flowers, and lentils. Newer farming industries include feedlots, intensive piggeries and egg production.
With typical "bush spirit" the people have progressed through harsh conditions, rallying their ongoing commitment for the benefit of Millmerran and providing a strong volunteer base to many worthwhile community organisations.
Millmerran Commerce and Progress Inc is not "all about business", but it IS about the PROGRESS of Millmerran. We are a group of people, from all walks of life, who are active in Millmerran and are excited to develop new ideas, take on projects and plan events for the community. We work closely with Millmerran Shire Council, having a Council representive on our Committee. We keep the Community informed by providing a monthly Newsletter. November 4th 2006 will be the 20th Anniversary of the Millmerran Shire and District News.
Events that we run, such as the Australian Camp Oven Festival, Christmas in the Bush and the Rendezvous Market Day provide opportunity for community groups to raise much needed funds.
Millmerran Commerce & Progress Inc meetings are on the first Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm at the Millmerran Memorial Sportsman's Club, 19 Kent St, Millmerran.
