MILLMERRAN MOSAIC PROJECT.

The Millmerran Local Arts Council, Shire Council, and Youth Council are together embarking on a plan to enhance points of interest in our Shire. Presently planned are large mosaic and steel signs at the entrances to our Shire along the Gore Highway; a tall vertical mosaic and steel 'Millmerran' sign at Back Creek; a sculpture and more in the new Back Creek walking area; mosaic paving and a fountain revamp at the Library; BBQ mosaic work and walkway pavers and more around the Factory Dam to complement the efforts of present and past Youth Councillors; mosaic marker points between Back Creek and the Factory Dam.

The seeds of this project were sown by the Millmerran Youth Council with its plans to make the Factory Dam much more of a community focal point.

The Cecil Plains community is being consulted and will decide on a suitable project for that town.

This project will involve a large number of volunteer hours, community and school workshops, and participation in the Camp Oven Festival, all under the guidance of Alain and Kate Colfs, Wildash Glassworks, Warwick, with other invited professional artists. The results will be works which we shall all enjoy, and of which we can be proud.

We have a number of generous three-year donations from local businesses and individuals.

We need more!

This project is backed by the Shire Council and as well we were successful in attracting a $30,000 grant from the Commonwealth Regional Arts Fund.

Please contact Fay Twidale, Jeanette Hutson, Nell Macqueen, or Paula Bellerby with your queries or donations.
