Drive to Cecil Plains

Leave Anzac Park, turn left into Charlotte Street

Pass Historical Society on right, and go 600 metres to T Intersection (blue house in front of you) and turn left.

Veer Right to Cecil plains over railway line. Aerodrome and then Millmerran Showgrounds are on the left.

You will see Ring Tanks, above ground water storage generally used for irrigation, are on both the left and right of the road.

Ned’s Corner is 26kms out. Ned Winter is a well known Camp Oven Cook and story teller!

17.7kms past Ned’s Corner, is Cecil Plains sign.. Cotton Gin (by appointment only) 5km on left.

Cecil Plains - Sawmill - Railway Station (Cecil Plains History Group) - Library - Park including Ludwig Leichardt (explorer) & Henry Stuart Russell (first settler) monument, Tourist information , Barbecue & toilet - Caravan Park.

Railway Station on right. Turn Left, then first left again. Catholic Church on right. Turn right at Hall with Mural. Take next right, then 0.4kms the historical cemetery is on the left.

Turn right and take next left. Cecil Homestead and slab hut is on the right.
300 metres further on, a rock with plaque commemorates Leichardt’s stay at the Homestead. Apex Park on the Condamine River bank. (Toilets)

Go over bridge, there is a Ring Tank on left. 3.2kms from Homestead turn right into Horaine Road and go over Railway crossing. Travel 4.7kms and veer right to Millmerran. “Tyunga” property on right.

27.8kms turn right at Sub Station into Bostock Road. 2.9kms to Lemon Tree Weir. 4.6kms from Weir is the Lemon Tree Homestead, Feed Lot and site of proposed ethanol plant.

2.7kms left into Millmerran/Cecil Plains Road. 9kms turn right into Mill Road, with Cypress Pine Mill on right. 700metres to Transport Mural. Turn Left and 100 metres you are back at Anzac Park.

Millmerran Country Drive

Start from Anzac Park.

Travel up Campbell Street for 1.5kms to the Inglewood Road intersection. Turn Right.

1.7kms on right is the “Keeping House” for Indigenous artifacts found during the building of the Power Station. For more information contact John Rogers during Business hours on (07) 4612 0871

5.4kms from turnoff into Inglewood Rd, Turn Right towards Commodore Peak Lookout.

1.3kms on right turn into Picnic area, look back over the Power Station and Mine area and the surrounding farmland. Leave picnic area and turn Right. Travel past Millmerran Pistol Club, on your right, and go over the grid as you pass through the Rabbit Proof Fence. Turn Right and travel for 5.4kms on a gravel road until you reach the Gore Hwy. Turn Left.

8.1kms you pass the Wondul National Park sign. turn left going past the Sporting Shooters Club white fence. (Moffat Rd)

3.5kms turn Right into Heckendorf Rd. 4.2kms to “Elsewhere” Geraldton Wax farm on right. 2.9kms SSAA Range is on the left. 2.4kms turn right at Millmerran /Inglewood Road T intersection. 4.3kms Millwood Hall is on the right.

13.4kms turn left into Kooroongarra Rd. 5.8kms you are in Old Kooroongarra village. You can see here the remains of the old Cheese Factory and Church.

2.2kms turn right to Kooroongarra Cemetery Road. 1.7kms the Historical Cemetery is on the left through a white gate. Travel back to Kooroongarra Road and turn Right.

8.8kms to Mt Basalt, gate on Left. Travel up the gravel road here for a lookout, picnic shelter and walk at Mt Basalt.

Travel back to Kooroongarra Road, not forgetting to shut the gate, and turn left. 5.3kms go over the grid, again through the Rabbit Proof Fence and turn immediately left. 1km you can pull over to the right at the Viewing Bay at the Power Station. The Station also looks most spectacular at night.

Return to Kooroongarra Rd and turn left. 7.4kms turn right at Inglewood Road intersection. 2.7kms turn left back into town. 1.5kms along Campbell St to Anzac Park.

Total Round Trip 98.2kms. Approx 1.5 hours.

Turn back & continue 10 klms up Punches Creek Rd.
Left into Owens Scrub Rd.
Left into InglewoodRd.
Right into Millmerran.
Left into Saleyards Rd.
800m on right, Bambo’s Olive Crushing Plant.
1.6 klms to Gore Highway.
Left on Gore Highway towards Goondiwindi.
10.2klms right into Captains Mountain Rd.( Olive Grove on left)
1klm sight of Old Captains Mountain School.
Back to Millmerran via Gore Highway.

Along Campbell St to T intersection,Left to Gore Highway(Mary St)
6 klms from turnoff, D.A Hall&Co Feed Mill on right. Poultry & egg packing sheds on left.
10 klms to Anglican Church & historic Cemetery. Left turn at park.
Note picnic area, toilets, old windmill& cement silos.
The church is the oldest building in the shire.
Back onto Gore Highway,400m turn right to Leyburn Rd.
Over Grasstree Creek, pass Yandilla Homestead on the right.
11.3 klms from turnoff is "Tosari". One of Australia's Open Gardens.
Turn around, back 600m turn right into Yarramalong Rd.
3.1 klms to Yarramalong Weir, picnic area& toilets.
Across bridge,
3klms turn left.
5klms, cross over railway crossing, left to Gore Highway.
Back to Millmerran, 17.8klms turn right to Campbell St.(main street)
